Seabuckthorn Harvesting study in Nepal
Dhakal, Lokendra Purush, Nepal
Harvesting study using 6 different tools were used. Tools ranged from hand picking, shaking the tree to common forks. The modified forks were significantly better than others. The results indicate common modified indigenous tools are fine for short statured Seabuckthorn plants (Hippophae tibetana) however, tall Seabuckthorn plants (Hippophae salicifolia) still needs selective cutting of branchlets. New branchlets with diameter below 1 cm are recommended to prune (often these branchlets contains more than 80% of the berries).
